International Day of Peace
Each year on the 21st of September, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world as a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples”. This year’s Peace Day Theme is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for all.”
According to the UN’s website:
“This theme is based on the global ‘TOGETHER’ campaign that promotes respect, safety and dignity for everyone who was forced to flee their homes in search of a better life. This campaign aims to unite the organizations of the United Nations System, the 193 member countries of the United Nations, the private sector, civil society, academic institutions and individual citizens in a global partnership in support of diversity, non-discrimination and acceptance of refugees and migrants.”
Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation stays true to its commitment in helping all sections of the Cypriot Society whether it be the Children & Youth, the Arts, Environment, Health or other matters concerning social justice and non-violence.
In 2018, the foundation is embarking on a new campaign called #makeapositivechange. This campaign aims to promote peace by promoting people to engage with small acts of kindness every day. Giving away a smile or offering kindness to a stranger are costless things but they sometimes go a long way to some people.
