A devastating explosion at the port of Beirut on August 4 affected 300,000 people. In an instant, residents were left without a roof over their heads and basic living conditions. More than 6,000 people were injured, 158 have lost their lives. The Lebanese authorities officially called the incident a national disaster.
Since the end of July 2020, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation has been actively involved in a number of social initiatives organized by the Friendship Circlе charitable organization. The Foundation also provides financial support to the Food Bank project to help families in need throughout Cyprus.
At the beginning of July this year, in the multifunctional hall of Gymnasium Eirinis & Eleftherias in Deryneia, Ammochostos area, a multimedia projector and screen were installed. Funds for the purchase and installation were kindly allocated by Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation.
On July 1, 2020 I met with the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nicos Nicolaides, to personally deliver the cheque on behalf of our Foundation towards the needs of the Food Bank’s social program that supports low-income families.
As an annual celebration that occurs every 1st June, International Children’s Day promotes the rights and well-being of children, and appreciates children’s roles in shaping the future of different communities across the world. On this wonderful day, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation supported children living at the ‘Hope for Children’ shelters by covering all clothing expenses (slippers, undergarments, PJs, tops, bottoms etc.).
Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation aims to provide the necessary assistance to those in need across Cyprus during this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has also affected the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society as they had to postpone all events, thereby limiting the ability to raise funds to support cancer patients.
For the second year in a row, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation supported WW2 veterans by joining forces with the Russian Cultural Centre in Nicosia (Rossotrudnichestvo). This year, the Foundation offered supermarket gift vouchers for 13 veterans living on the island.
The quarantine restriction due to Covid-19 has increased the frequency, intensity and the danger of violence against women and children. In light of this situation, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation are supporting the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO) by covering expenses for supermarket food vouchers.
As part of its campaign for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation is supporting two amazing initiatives organised by Cyprus Red Cross Limassol Branch and Friendship Circle.
On the 3d of February, in Limassol’s Rialto Theater, Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation – in collaboration with the Russian Cultural Centre (Rossotrudnichestvo) – sponsored the play ‘Novels from Russia’. It was presented by the Vladimir Academic Drama Theater as part of the international program ‘Russian Theater Seasons’ in Cyprus.
