Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation congratulates veterans for Victory Day
The 9th of May marked 74 years since the Victory Day of the Eastern Front of the Second World War (1941-1945). This important date is celebrated by everyone from Russia and the CIS-countries. Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation, in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Centre in Nicosia, gave a gift voucher to each of the 26 WWII veterans living on the island to redeem at one of the biggest supermarkets in Cyprus.
The Head of the Russian Cultural Centre, Alina Radchenko, commented:
“I would like to express my warmest gratitude to Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation for contributing to the celebration of the Victory Day in Cyprus which allows veterans to feel they are not forgotten and their brave heroism is still remembered. It is important to honor veterans because it shows that we are thankful for the sacrifices they have made for peace and freedom.”
Founder Andrey Dashin added:
“This act of giving is a very small thing we could do for the few veterans who are still with us. They have made it possible for us to live normal lives and we are happy and extremely proud to help all the veterans across the island. On Victory Day, May 9, we have a valuable opportunity to honor and thank veterans, but we should remember to do it every single day because many of them are alone and face health and housing issues. A simple “thank you” can make a big difference to veterans. So let’s spread happiness and joy on this special day and let all veterans know we appreciate them!”
The Russian Cultural Centre in Nicosia was established in 1978. The Center’s main tasks are to promote bilateral cultural, humanitarian and scientific cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and Russia, as well as to popularize Russian culture and the Russian language on the island.
