Russian Cultural Days
Russian Cultural Days is a 3-month event, which started in 2014 in Limassol to bring the Russian culture closer to the Cypriot community by organizing a range of interactive and entertaining events such as opera, circus and music performances, as well as an exhibition.
This year the festivities began on the 2nd of May and lasted until the 26th of July with the following programme:
- 02 May Gala Concert – Mariinsky Theatre Opera Soloists.
- 11-12 May Pantomime and Plastic Theatre – “Atelier” of Russia.
- 15 May Piano Recital – Russian Masterpieces with Manolis Neophytou.
- 22-24 May Soloists of St. Petersburg’s State Circus.
- 24 June – 26 July Exhibition: A Doll’s Tale.
The “Russian Cultural Days” event has been held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, with the support of the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation, acting as the Honorary Charity Supporter for the event.
Opening Press Conference
On April 23rd, the Founder of the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation, Julia Dashina, has spoken to the media at the press conference of the Russian Cultural Days, representing the Foundation as the event’s Honorary Charity Supporter.
“As Founder of the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation, it is a pleasure for me to support this cultural event, especially when it aims to unite and bring the Russian and the Cypriot cultures closer.” said Julia.
“Bringing Russian theatre, circus, performances and an exhibition to Cyprus is a fun and interesting way to show the rich cultural part of what Russia has to offer, which is important especially in Cyprus where our cultures interweave on a daily basis.”
During the press conference, Mrs Dashina announced that the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation shall be offering 200 free tickets to children from less privileged families for the St. Petersburg’s State Circus performances on 22,23 and 24 of May. These tickets will be sent via the Social Welfare Services to select local families in need. This has already been successfully executed in one of the Foundation’s own charity events in the past, where over 350 children have been offered free cinema tickets.
Moreover, the Foundation shall also offer an unlimited amount of tickets for the exhibition “A doll’s tale”, which shall take place at the Trakasol Cultural Center between the 24th of June and 26th of July 2015 and shall distribute these for charity purposes to children and adults to attend for free. Anyone who approaches the Foundation will receive their free ticket for the colorful exhibition, and should there be enough interest, the Foundation in cooperation with the event organizers, shall offer and arrange group tours with a guide fluent in Russian and Greek to facilitate the cultural visit to the exhibition.
The Foundation’s core objective is to extend a helping hand to any cause of genuine need in Cyprus. To fulfill our mission we listen and respond to the needs of our society. This event is not only entertaining but educational, too. “The younger generation, children and the youth, is perhaps the most important target audience for this event – they are the ones who will make a difference tomorrow.” noted Julia.
Unfortunate as it may be, not every family in Cyprus may afford their child or children to attend such events. This is why the Foundation has chosen to step in as the Honorary Charity Supporter, offering our help not only to the organizers to fulfill their mission, but also to contribute in making this year’s event a great charity success.
St. Petersburg State Circus!
Between the 22nd and 24th of May, the Trakasol Cultural Center at the Limassol Marina has welcomed over 1000 children and parents, who have come to witness the spectacular St. Petersburg’s State Circus’s performance!
Clowns, jugglers, magicians and acrobats have worked restlessly to make every show a one to remember.
In the framework of the Russian Cultural Days event, the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation has generously offered 200 FREE tickets to children from low-income families, which have been distributed via the Limassol Social Welfare Services office.
After the event the Foundation offered every child a balloon on exit to take home. The Foundation thanks all its volunteers for the great job and invaluable help. Well done to everyone!
