Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation Formally Announce Sponsorship of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO
On March 15, 2017, the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation organised a press conference at the city town hall to formally announce the sponsorship of the 1km Youth Race held during the biggest sporting event in Cyprus – the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO – on the 18th and 19th of March.
The press conference was attended by the newly elected mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nikos Nikolaides, along with the Head Organiser of the marathon, Mr. Spyros Spyrou, the GSO president Mr. Neoklis Thoma, Mrs. Kalli Hadjiiosif a representative from the Ministry of Education and one of the founders of the foundation, Mrs. Julia Dashina.
In her speech, Mrs. Dashina stated that: “Healthy children who love to exercise, grow into healthy adults, and then move on to raise healthy families. European studies have recently published alarming facts about the huge increase in childhood obesity, so making exercise fun for children and a part of their daily routine has now become more crucial than ever before.”
She also added that: “From the beginning, the Foundation has worked diligently to support equal opportunities to children of all backgrounds in Cyprus, regardless of prejudice and discrimination. It is thus with great pleasure that we sponsor the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation 1km Youth Race. We wanted to ensure that all children were given the free opportunity to take part in this grand event as we are firm believers of the Ancient Greek saying that “For a healthy mind you need a healthy body.”
The press conference then concluded with a speech from Mr. Spyros Spyrou where he stated that: “Thanks to the kind support of the Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation, thousands of children and teenagers will have the opportunity to participate once again in the island’s biggest sporting event. Andrey and Julia, have long linked their names with social and athletic contributions in Cyprus, and Limassol in particular, and we thank them for providing the joy of participation through the sponsorship of the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation 1km Youth Race, initiating healthy habits in children and teenagers and giving them access to important benefits.”
