Update on FXTM and Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation’s support of Pafos Zoo
Since May 2018, all owls at Pafos Zoo – a total of 11 birds from 5 different species – have been supported by Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation and FXTM. After over a year of successful collaboration, the Foundation and FXTM are pleased to announce that they continue to support the owls and have donated 7,000 euros to renovate their enclosures.
All necessary works are now complete. The new enclosures provide plenty of shade for the owls to shelter from the sun and keep cool during the summer months, as well as help to maintain a comfortable temperature in winter.
Founder Andrey Dashin commented:
“Supporting zoos in their work to protect animals has become increasingly important. It’s a pleasure for us to continue to support the owls, and to ensure their comfortable upkeep. Pafos Zoo is one of the island’s leading tourist attractions, and we understand how difficult and expensive the maintenance of a zoo that is over 100,000 square meters is. Our vision is a world where animal welfare plays an important role and society fights against animal cruelty. Only together can we change the world for animals, and we hope that others will follow our example.”
The owner of Pafos Zoo, Ioulios Christoforou, thanked the Foundation for its kind sponsorship:
“We want to say a big thank you to Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation for sponsoring the renovation of all our owl enclosures, and for helping us to create something more modern, beautiful and much more comfortable for our animals. The owls are very happy and they are having a great time since we introduced them to their new and enriched environment.”
Pafos Zoo, which opened to the public in September 2003, is home to an extensive variety of birds and animals from all corners of the planet. It has one of the largest collections of parrots and venomous snakes in Europe.
Pafos Zoo is committed to animal care and creates compelling experiences that connect people with wildlife, and inspire personal responsibility for conserving the natural world.
