Αndrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation supports the first HIV Awareness Campaign across the island
Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation is proud to announce its support of the island’s first official Education and Awareness Campaign regarding HIV + STD to all Gymnasiums and Lyceums across Cyprus. The project that is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, is run under KYFA, a non-profit organization that works on a volunteer basis solely dedicated to providing support, education, information and social services to people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Due to the fact that cases of HIV are on the rise due to lack of awareness, this project is targeted to educate young people regarding the HIV virus, sexual transmitted diseases and also unwanted pregnancies. The project marks a first for Cyprus, and will be running for a year with KYFA’S target set at 72 schools and more than 35,000 students 12-18 years of age.
The director of the program, Stella Michaelidou, commented on the importance of this Campaign by saying that:
“This specific Program has been presented at this Year’s World Conference on HIV/AIDS in Amsterdam where the Program’s importance was highly stressed and highly commented on. The Greek Center of Life has extended the use of the Program to us in view of the long standing co-operation it has had with KYFA. Your contribution plays a major part in terms of life changing prospective for many young people, as well as awareness, prevention and support.”
Founder Andrey Dashin commented on the following campaign by saying:
“Education is knowledge and knowledge is the best form of protection. Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation has and always will support the safeguarding of the new generation and is therefore really proud to be held responsible as a sponsor of this campaign. HIV and STDs are on the rise, especially for adolescents, and it is therefore our responsibilities as adults to help them, help themselves and stay safe”.
Τhis is the second time the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation supports KYFA, supporting their cause once more in 2017 with a Charity Fashion Show.
