Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation Supports 14th International Children Folk Dance Festival
Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation sponsored the 14th International Children Folk Dance Festival, which took place from 27 to 30 June in Limassol. More than 160 children participated from Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Serbia and Cyprus. The Festival was organised by the Limassol Folklore Association under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Costas Chambiaouris.
The International Children Folk Dance Festival is characterised by its well-planned events and the spontaneous hospitality of the foreign teams which participate. The Festival aims to cultivate and promote the music and dance tradition of every country among children that comprise our future.
The performances started on 27 June with a parade of all the participants, and the Festival’s opening ceremony near the Agios Athanasios Municipality. On Friday 28 June, the teams of dancers visited Kyperounta village and on 29 June, Eptagonia village. A closing ceremony with a parade was held at the Molos area on Sunday 30 June.
Founder Andrey Dashin commented:
“It’s a pleasure for us to support the International Children Folk Dance Festival because it gives the opportunity for children from different countries, traditions and cultures to come together and interact with each other, as well as to visit and explore Cyprus’ archeological, historical and cultural places.”
The International Children Folk Dance Festival has been organised every two years since 1993 by the Limassol Folklore Association, and constitutes one of the most important institutions in Cyprus.
