Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation once again supported Playhouse International Nursery in Larnaca
Playhouse International Nursery has been operating as a kindergarten in Larnaca since its foundation in 1998 by Barbara Demosthenous, a talented teacher and mother of three. The kindergarten is open to children aged 3 months to 5 years, with classes held in both English and Greek.
The ethos behind Playhouse International Nursery is that all children – regardless of whether they have physical or developmental needs – will benefit from studying and playing together. It is their belief that this encourages a healthy atmosphere in which all will thrive. The kindergarten’s attendees include children with autism, Down’s Syndrome, and epilepsy.
In 2020, the Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation financed some reconstruction work in the kindergarten’s bathroom. This allowed Barbara to accept 30 new students, four of whom are toddlers with special needs.
In February 2021, the Foundation was once again asked to help, this time with the renovation of two rooms on the second floor. To comply with fire safety rules, the rooms were equipped with solid wood doors and railings on the stairs. The walls were sheathed with wood, gates were placed for safety purposes and tables and chairs were provided. Thanks to this, the kindergarten was able to enroll 10 children with autism.
In April 2021, Andrey Dashin, together with his daughter Anfisa, visited the Playhouse International Nursery. They handed out gifts to the children, and in return received lots of smiles and giggles and beautiful postcards from the kids. The Foundation was happy to help the kindergarten, which makes it possible for every child to feel needed and capable.
