Day trip for the residents of the Apostolos Pavlos Centre
Every person needs to get away from the daily hustle and bustle and rest. But, unfortunately, for some people, such a pastime is not always possible for several reasons. Some people are prevented from taking a break by the lack of free time, while others cannot go anywhere because of limited physical capabilities.
Apostolos Pavlos Day Care Centre is located in Liopetri village. It is home to 40 people with intellectual disabilities aged 21 to 56. Most have limited mobility and cannot leave the centre, so entertainment and vivid experiences are essential.
On 27 February, at the request of the Apostolos Pavlos Centre, the Andrey and Julia Dashin Foundation organised a special outing for the residents and their caretakers. They visited the Camel Park entertainment centre located in the village of Mazotos. The park is home to over 100 animals, including goats, deer, ponies, llamas, alpacas, lemurs, and camels. The guests had exclusive access to the park during their visit, where they enjoyed a train ride, walked the paths, and fed the camels. It was a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Sometimes, a change of scenery and interaction with animals can lift one’s spirits and provide a surge of energy that can last for weeks. We were thrilled to participate in such a soulful initiative and bring the centre’s residents joy on an otherwise ordinary Tuesday.
