Sponsoring the “8 Femmes” play for two unique shows in Limassol
When it comes to strengthening the local community of arts and culture, the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation is always close to those in need. On the 22nd of April at 8 o’clock at night, the foundation proudly sponsored the premier of the theatre play called “Eight Women” performed by Russian theatre “Ostrov”.
The play was written by Robert Thomas in 1958 and was also re-written and directed in 2002 by Francois Ozon for the big screen with an all- star ensemble including Catherine Deneuve and Fanny Ardant.
Revolving around an eccentric family of women and their employees in the 1950s, the play follows eight women as they gather to celebrate Christmas in an isolated, snowbound cottage only to find Marcel, the family patriarch, dead with a knife on his back! Trapped in the house, every woman becomes a suspect, each having her own motive and secret. 8 Women blends farce, melodrama and mystery while addressing the themes of murder, greed, adultery and homosexuality from the point of the female psyche.
The Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation supports Ostrov Theatre in their effort to stage two performances to all Russian speaking viewers in Cyprus. The next performance will take place on the 14 May with two more shows to follow, specifically on the 10th of June and 10th of December.
