Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation sponsors a day of fun for children living in Nicosia’s Children & Youth Shelters
On the 17th of November, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation organized a day of fun and adventure for all the children living in the Children & Youth Shelters in Nicosia. The children were given a chance to try indoor rock climbing at the biggest climbing gym in Cyprus and then taken out for a delicious lunch at TGI Fridays.
The project was first proposed by avid rock climber and FXTM CFO, George Kyriakoudes, who suggested this specific sport because it combines physical exercise with “problem-solving” techniques, teaching enthusiasts concentration and persistence about how to overcome certain obstacles – virtues that are extremely valuable for life in general.
In an entertaining and controlled environment, 16 children and adolescents between the ages of 9 and 17 had the amazing opportunity to try rock climbing on various walls of different heights, with gear from the high tech gym of Acropolis Lyceum. They were supervised and encouraged by certified professionals of the Cyprus Climbing Academy, who were bought in just for this occasion. After two hours of excitement and exhilarating exercise, the children were then taken to the popular restaurant, TGI Fridays, for a meal of their choice.
Founder Andrey Dashin, who is also a rock climber, commented on the day of the event as well:
“I love going on adventures and I love taking my children with me whenever I can. To be able to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to these children means the world to me because I know that this experience will stay with them forever. I hope that the values these children learned today will inspire them to dream bigger and become even stronger and better people tomorrow”.
*The Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation would like to extend its warmest regards to the management of TGI Friday’s for their generous hospitality and sponsorship during the day of the event.
