Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation Announce Support for the Development of Pediatric Cancer Centre in Cyprus
On October 9th, Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation attended a Gala Dinner organized by leading NGO Karaiskakio Foundation, in collaboration with the Elpida Foundation in Greece, in order to support the establishment of a new state-of-the-art Diagnostic and Research Pediatric Cancer Center. The new center will provide structured, systematic and comprehensive support to children with a wide range of neoplastic diseases in Cyprus.
Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation became the main sponsor of the Gala Dinner that was held under the auspices of the First Lady of Cyprus and was attended by many high profile guests including the president of Cyprus, Mr. Anastasiades, various ministers and members of the parliament, as well as Mrs. Vardinoyannis – UNESCO Good Will Ambassador and President of the Elpida Foundation.
The Karaiskakio Foundation has proven to be the best ambassador for Cyprus, having saved the lives of 400 leukemia patients (including children) from its Bone Marrow Bank, in 32 countries. The Foundation also has 4 accredited labs that provide clinical support on the diagnosis, prognosis, and leukemia treatment to all oncologists in Cyprus. The new center (estimated at a cost of 2 million euros) will be scientifically supported by scientists from Cambridge University in the UK, as well as other well-known scientists in the area of pediatric cancer.
The president of the Karaiskakio Foundation, Dr. Popi Kanari, thanked Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation for its generosity to be the Major Sponsor by stating:
“The objective of this project is to contribute towards the conversion of pediatric oncology from harsh therapies to targeted treatments that will reduce the mortality rates of children with cancer and also the side effects of the treatment. Your Foundation is a true example of a philanthropic gesture, which will alleviate the struggles of many of our citizens, especially children. We express our deep appreciation for your positive response to our request for support”.
Founder Julia Dashina commented:
“Ever since we started the Foundation, our philosophy has always been to extend a helping hand to those in need and especially children. Supporting such a noble cause makes both my husband and I extremely proud, and we only wish that our help will add to the alleviation of the suffering of the children – even it’s just by a little bit”.
