Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation Sponsors a Day of Fun for Children Living in the Limassol Shelter
On the 17th of February, the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation sponsored a day of fun and adventure for 17 children staying at the children’s shelter in Limassol. This event follows the huge success of the Foundation’s event back in November for the children living at the children and youth shelters in Nicosia.
This time around, the older children were given the chance to try indoor rock climbing at the Limassol Climbing Club in Agios Nikolaos. They were also able to learn all about the health and safety rules for rock-climbing outdoors, getting a chance to look at harnesses and other safety gear. The younger children were invited to watch and play on the gym’s padded floor and lower climbing walls. After 2 hours of exercise and fun, the group were then taken to McDonalds for a delicious meal.
Founder Andrey Dashin commented:
“Being in a position to offer these kinds of memories to children is of immense importance to me. These events provide a strong and healthy outlet for the children to release their energy, as well as learn useful life skills in general. It also proves that four years later, the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation remains more committed than ever to support the local community of Cyprus and help to change the lives of people for the better. I am extremely proud of this”.
Michael Ioannou, director of the Limassol Climbing Club, stated:
“We feel honored to have had this opportunity to give these children an introduction to the world of rock climbing. In many ways, climbing can be helpful in real life – teaching us to hang in there and keep going, even when it seems impossible. Everyone deserves the chance to explore and learn new things, and so shape their path through life. Thank you for allowing us to be part of that”.
The event was once again held under the auspices of the Cyprus First Lady, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades.
