Contributing to the Cypriot Food Bank for the victims of the explosion at the port of Beirut
A devastating explosion at the port of Beirut on August 4 affected 300,000 people. In an instant, residents were left without a roof over their heads and basic living conditions. More than 6,000 people were injured, 158 have lost their lives. The Lebanese authorities officially called the incident a national disaster.
On August 7, the President of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Anastasiades, appealed to citizens and residents with a call to express solidarity and provide possible support, taking an active part in the national collection of foodstuffs and essentials for further transportation to Beirut.
Sympathizing for the citizens of Beirut, Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation contributed to the humanitarian initiative by arranging grocery delivery directly to the Collection Point of Limassol Municipality near Filellinon Park. Kilograms of canned food, cereals, baby food and baby products were delivered by a specially organized minivan. Athena Spyrou, Chairperson of the Municipality’s Social Welfare Committee, gratefully accepted the support provided by the Foundation.
The Dashin’s Foundation sincerely thanks the employees of the Municipality for their cooperation, as well as the Sklavenitis supermarket workers for their responsiveness and assistance in transporting food to the Limassol Collection point.
