Mission Statement
We established the Andrey & Julia Dashin’s Foundation because we wish to dedicate direct financial and moral support to all those in need. We believe that anyone can make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate because people were blessed with the gift of compassion and generosity – all we have to do is use it.
Objectives
The Foundation’s core objective is to extend a helping hand to any cause of genuine need in Cyprus and Mauritius.
To fulfill our mission, we listen and respond to the needs of:
- Children
- Education
- Healthcare
- Culture & the Arts
- Environment
- Social issues
We aim to tackle the problems in these areas by offering direct financial support to those who are affected by social/economic disadvantage. Furthermore, we intend on actively and passionately promoting the act of volunteerism by encouraging young people to participate in charity projects and cooperating with local authorities and other NGOs to make our work as efficient as possible.
Collaborations
The Andrey & Julia Dashin Foundation welcomes new private initiatives by local NGOs (non-governmental organizations) or other focus groups. We stay true to our mission statement in offering an extending hand to anyone who needs help in Cyprus and Mauritius. We are open to new collaborations and are always willing to sponsor projects aimed at improving people’s lives or the environment.
The Alpari Charitable Fund
In 2005, I decided to create the Alpari Charitable Fund. The charity frequently holds events to raise money for disabled children, orphans and children from underprivileged families. We try to focus on helping those who are in most desperate need of our support.
In 2011, I was fortunate enough to be named a Knight of the Order of Beneficence. I am truly grateful to all of the people involved with the Alpari Charitable Fund and to all those who helped us do some good in the world. It was a collaborative effort, so this award actually belongs to all of us.
Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation
On May 5, 2014, my wife Julia and I officially announced the opening of the Andrey and Julia Dashin’s Foundation. The goal of the organization is the development and support of charitable initiatives in Cyprus and the provision of support to those in need.
As Cyprus has become our second home, we decided to make a contribution that can benefit the residents of this sunny and hospitable island.
Preserving Our Cultural Heritage
Why is this so important to me? People, much like trees, draw strength from their roots. Architecture, literature, art – everything that has been handed down to us from past generations has helped us become what we are today. In a way, our self-identity is partially inherited.
The success of each new generation is inextricably intertwined with the accomplishments of its ancestors. The preservation and restoration of cultural and historical artifacts is an undertaking for all of humanity, and each of us can make a contribution towards meeting this daunting challenge. My companies and I have been involved in a number of projects connected to the preservation of culture, architecture and religious artifacts.
In 2011, I donated some of my own money to restore an orthodox church in the village of Tashkirmen in Tatarstan. The Church of ‘Gurias of Kazan’ has a rich history. It is thought that the village of Tashkirmen has been around since the days of the Kazan princedom, but up until the turn of the 19th century, no church could be found there. Construction on a village church began in 1895 and wrapped up in 1914, when the church was opened it was named in honor of Gurias of Kazan.
Gurias was the first archbishop in the Kazan and Sviyazhsk areas. He converted a great number of people to the orthodox religion, including many Tatars. So it was very symbolic that the church was opened in his honor, and then later restored in the rural village where it remains as a unifying spiritual symbol.
